Tokyo Police Club - Very into the A Lesson In Crime EP

Cajun Dance Party - Apparantly Thom Yorke is a big fan, that should be enough to at least check them out

OK, I'm pretty new to indie music (and man is there a lot of it to wade through) and I'm still adjusting to the structure of most of the songs. I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but there are definitely some bands I can dig. One song I really like is Young Folks (Writer's Block) by Peter Bjorn and John. I heard it on the radio and got the CD because of it. The rest of the CD is pretty good as well, but I'm completely jocking this one song.

If you can find the new Architecture in Helsinki, it's amazing.

If you haven't heard of the site, hypem.com aggregates music posted in the top music blogs. It has a lot of indie music, and it has a pop-up flash player where you can listen to the last 50 songs posted on the web.

If you're a fan of a particular music blog, you can also play the music from individual sites. This is usually the best option so you can avoid the random junk posted on some blogs.

Anyone hear Jarvis Cocker's solo album? As a Pulp fan, I'm excited to get a hold of it..

Gogol Bordello : Gypsy Punk rock. If you like the Pogues, or the way they combined their country's traditional music with a punk/rock aesthetic, you will probably like this.

Also, J.U.F. (Jewish Ukrainian Freundschaft) : lots of the same people, but it's dance music, with "Balkan, Turkish, dancehall, Rai and flamenco beats." I can't stomach much that's called dance music, but the first download on that site ("Gypsy Part of Town") is really cool.

Balkan Beat Box too - again some of the same guys. And again, they do interesting things with traditional Eastern European folk sounds.

Six tracks from Animal Collective's new album, "Strawberry Jam", have leaked.

It is AMAZING so far.

Just something for people to keep an eye out for.

Of recent albums I've listened to and really liked, Bayani by the Blue Scholars is probably the highest. Check out a few tracks (I highly recommend "Joe Metro") on their Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/bluescholars.

And yet another group brought to me by KEXP who I'm really digging: Vampire Weekend. http://www.myspace.com/vampireweekend.
