fsu,

While that is true to a certain extent, there is a reason both of the players in question have been given 2 or 3 stars in OOT. One is less stupid than the other, but still stupid.

Melchiades,

You are way off base here. It's totally normal for High Stakes poker pros to lend each other thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars just base on their word. If it wasnt life would be much more diffcult.

Ok? So?

Well grim made a choice here clearly to sell his repuation for about 1500$ in EV. Personally I think if your going to sell your reputation theres far more clever ways to do it then backing out of a 5k all-in deal when 72o is staring back at you. In the end I think this move was -EV for Grimstarr here. Maybe had it been more money it would have been a +EV move (though still not an honorable one), but not for 1500$

One thing I really can't stand about this whole poker boom is the number of arrogant immature young kids making phenomenal amounts of money. I know that sounds hypocritical coming from me, since I'm only 21, but what ever happened to modesty? I have actually been thinking about making a thread regarding this subject for some time, but never got around to it.

I'm sure there are plenty of young kids who just go about their ways and make tons of money politely and respectfully, but the nature of this forum means that the braggarts who talk about being balla and mention in passing how they lost enough money to support a family for a year without caring get the most fans. I just think it's really stupid.

Pro sports is the best analogy I can think of to poker--the amount of money you make is directly correlated to your skill. If any pro athlete acted like some of the most popular posters here, they would be ostracized immediately. What makes it ok for a poker player to do it?

This deserves it's own thread, but uh, pro athletes do stupid [censored] all the time that gets them killed in the media and heckled by fans. This is the part that's bothered me. Just cause you have a wicked jump shot or can crack a baseball out of a park everyday does NOT mean you should be held to higher standards than people that can't. I don't care if you are in the lime light or not, normal people do stupid [censored] all the time and don't get as much flack as some of these pros. People seem to think they are godlike or different than us which is why they judge them differently, it's [censored], they are the same. But yes, the nature of online poker/this forum do allow for a bunch of snot-nosed punks to make a [censored] of money and run the show even though they don't have a [censored] clue which way is up. Guess what? I was one of those kids too, so were a lot of posters on this forum, but you don't see us acting like retards (at least not on a daily basis), it's not the money or fame that did it, they were like that all along, the fame and money just made everyone else more aware.

If he did have 67o, then grim sold his rep for $718 if anyone was curious

Hand 1: 42.3227 % { 7s6c }
Hand 2: 57.6773 % { random }
