This is cheating... that is all.

Anyone who thinks Phil Ivey or any other gambler is looking for an even money bet on the golf course is dillusional and deserves to be hustled. Ivey knows he is a better poker player than most of the people he plays with but does not offer them a handicap. If he were looking for even bets he would offer a handicap at the poker table. Golf betting is no differant, a handicap was developed to give the hustler a tool to take your money not to "even" things out. The guys who left without paying, if true, are both stupid and dishonorable. Ivey's actions, if true, are only dishonorable.

Exactly, just like he only plays craps when he has the edge.

You make a good point and I never really understood why a guy like Ivey would play for big money at a losing game like craps. I've often been suspicious that reported large losses at craps are put out there to support gambling losses as offsets for IRS purposes. If you are competitive in nature and you are getting hammered at golf and guys are bragging about beating you, if you have half a brain, you are gonna figure out how to get your money back.

I am not saying that Ivey was right in this situation, but it is funny how the hendon mob fanboys refuse to address the fact that Ram didn't quit the match even tho according to admissions in this own post, he could have at any time.

Here's my take based on whats been posted here, FCP, and Hendon mob... Marc Goodwin was giddy with excitement with the money he had been winning from Ivey over the years, got Ram onboard at some point and Ram was a little bit ahead... Ivey feels that he has been hustled, or at least given them too many strokes and decides to hustle them back a little bit (way bigger sin in the UK than in the US apparently). Then after realizing this Marc G. does the honorable thing and quits the match (although not right away). But Ram decides to play on and...

FREEROLL HIS BALLS OFF.

Come on, blatent freeroll, arbitrator is DEFINITELY going to take that into consideration.

I don't know if this is helpful, and but here's the Travel + Leisure Golf article alluded to upthread, detailing the $50k/hole match Russ Hamilton played with Kasey Thompson last year:

Best part:

He marks his ball with a $5,000 chip from the Bellagio.
