BC Mussina has sucked this yr, Wang's ERA is like two full runs lower at home then on the road, standard belief is that sinker ball pitchers pitch better on 3 days rest, Pettite in game 5 gives the Yankees the best chance to win game 5 if they get that far.

Obviously it didn't work out, but it was easily the decision to make.

No. There are two situations which a batter hit by a pitch is not awarded first base.

1. The batter makes no attempt to avoid the pitch
2. If, when the batter and pitch make contact, the pitch is in the strike zone.

In either situation, the ball is dead and no runners can advance. Though I'm not sure what the call would be on the second situation and the batter bunting with two strikes.
