Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] They could, but Barajas, no matter how much of a turd, is still a better option than pinch-hitting with a pitcher. [/ QUOTE ] I'd take Randy Wolf PH over Barajas any day... [/ QUOTE ] I was speaking about the Phillies, as it, there isn't a pitcher on the Phillies I would see bat over Barajas. That being said, I'd still take Barajas over Wolf. I'm getting kind of sick of how awful this team is fundamentally. Baserunning, fielding, coaching and generally playing smart baseball have been absent all year and it's growing tiresome to watch. [/ QUOTE ] You forgot their total inability to get a hit whenever a runner is on base. |

[/ QUOTE ] They are also very high in the majors in runners left on base. I do, however, agree that their 271 runs scored is not the problem. Their 258 allowed (25th in the majors) is. |

[/ QUOTE ] Just glanced at Yahoo, situational team stats. Phillies seem average to above average. Using the crude statistic that is team BA, RISP: .267 (11th in MLB)) RISP, 2 outs: .272 (7th) none on base: .274 (6th) bases loaded: .271 (16th) 7th inning or later: .259 (7th) |

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said he won't let Pat Burrell's salary ($13 million) dictate how much he'll continue to play the struggling left fielder. "I put the lineup in and try to help the team have the best chance possible to win," he said. "You play long enough, there comes a time when you have to make some kind of decision."
God please boo Manuel out of town Philly fans, I know you're capable of this. Along with the Myers incident single handedly ruining my fantasy team this year. |

someone tell manuel that burrell has an OBP of .399 [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but he just clogs the bases when he gets on. It's not called "runs walked in," is it? |
