Re: $25NL tptk
raise slightly more preflop (say, original bet *4 = $4 in this case) and then don't fold AK with an A on the board in a re-raised pot.

raise slightly more preflop (say, original bet *4 = $4 in this case) [/ QUOTE ] just to expand on this point, some factors that I think should increase the size of your re-raise: a) greater confidence that you're ahead of villain b) being out of position (to pick up the put sooner) c) more players in pot to make it heads up |

Re: $25NL AA on 4 flush turn
DrJ AA hand:
I'd bet much closer to pot on the flop. I'd also check fold on the turn; I think that hands you beat will check behind, and hands you lose to will call any turn bet. |

Re: $25NL rvr 2 pr and get raised
Is this ok until river? Should I just call 1st raise on river instead of reraising? Once I was raised the 2nd time I new I was beat, but can I fold at that point for $3?

Re: $25NL rvr 2 pr and get raised
TJ hand - fold flop, ldo.
you're drawing to like (equivalent) 1 out. by folding, you get out of positions like this. also, call the min-raise on the river if you're going to be there. there are a million two pair or better hands that beat you. |

thanks Josem. I never considered these other factors, I always just looked at # of people in pot.

Re: STTF SNG->cash thread
UTG+1 is 21/15/3 over 30 hands and c-bets 100%, though not really enough sample to care. He hasn't shown me anything outstanding yet so I'd like to treat him as a typical bad TAG. Do I fail at poker?

Re: STTF SNG->cash thread
slim 44 hand:
pf - calling seems reasonable since you're on the button. 3.5 * 8 = you need to win, on average, $30 when you hit your set. i don't know whether this is reasonable when many hands (AK, AQ, etc.) won't pay you off a chunk of the time. flop - seems reasonable, but i'd be inclined to just call here. if villain is cbetting (as you suspect) then you can just bet the turn when he checks. if villain has a real hand, and you're behind, you minimise the amount of money put in behind. also, it seems that many players seem more likely to call a raise when they have already bet, because they don't "like" getting raised off stuff. |

Remember small hand small pots, big hand big pots... 44 is not a big hand. |
