The stacks are messed up Mike. How much did BB have to start the hand?

[/ QUOTE ]

Dammit, I messed up, it was the SB who was in the hand with $400...

SB is a very solid player whom I don't know personally, but from the way he talks, and others talk about him he seems like a very good player. He also bought in for $400 after seeing someone else buy in for $400. He does not know me at all. And the rest of the table he may know and they are all pretty bad to average loose passive players. This is very early.

Live Home Game No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (9 handed)

UTG ($400)
UTG+1 ($110)
MP1 ($90)
Hero ($220)

BB ($65)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Default Re: 99 overpair flush draw

I'm not really sure what you can put villain on if he's a solid player. He flat calls an MP raise OOP with 2 EP limpers yet to act. I'm not putting him on a big pair like QQ or better or AK so the most likely holding seems to be a speculative hand. If he's any good this pretty much means a small or medium pair since connectors suck in this spot although he could play KQ, AQ, maybe JT like this I guess.

I like a pot-sized bet on the flop since it's multi-way. I can't see him flat calling this flop and checking the turn if he made a set, it's just too dangerous looking. It would be nice to know how this guy plays his big draws since a lot of villains would raise your flop lead with the NFD here.

I think I would bet the turn and fold to a raise, or fold the river if he calls the turn and leads the river.

As played I really really want to raise/fold the river because it’s going to be hard for him to call or shove with anything but the As and I’m pretty sure he has something like TT or JJ with a spade here, some kind of connecting spades like KQ, or Ax with the As. I think he has to fold everything but the Ace. [Edit - never mind raise/fold I thought effective stacks were $400.]

This might be really bad advice though as I’m just learning to hand read.

Villain is 18/10 and folds most flops (8/10)

On the turn I think I'm at best splitting, anyone take a b/f line on either the turn or the river.

Any basic advice for someone playing 16 / 27s on Stars and wanting to start cash ? (complete beginner on this)

What limit to begin with ? Does NL10 look good or is it too high / too low ? 6 max or not (probably does not matter) ?
Is playing your standard sng TAG style ok to begin with ?

(probably all very dumb questions - thanks for your help)

[/ QUOTE ]

As someone else said, start somewhere that you are comfortable sticking your entire stack in.

One important thing to do is to forget about how hands play in SNGPT and start thinking about how hands play with 100BB stacks.

I'd bet the turn. This is also where I use timing tells a lot to try and weight their range more heavily towards draws or made hands on the flop.

This is a pretty [censored] spot.

My first comment is that having 3 opponents on a drawy flop, I think you should pot the flop.

That turn sucks. I really don't know what a solid player would flat your raise from the SB and flat this flop with.

Would he 3-bet JJ here ootbs? What about TT? TT with a spade is certainly a possible hand that beats you. Maybe he has 76s.

But anyway, the 8s on the turn is a terrible call. It takes away an over pair that you were beating on the turn and couple reasonable expect villain to peel again with.

So, not knowing your opponent that well, I'd c/f the turn. I don't like b/f because of the price you'd be getting to call the shove, and you certainly don't know this player well enough to c/f. c/c also kinda commits you to the pot if the river blanks off. So, I think the best line is to just c/f the turn.

Default KK overpair vs two raises

So I have Thanksgiving week off and I went throught the PT tutorial and I am reviewing my Nov games. What I have found, which you all probably know, is that when I am CR, or there are 2+ raises, my hand is usually no good. Do you all fold once the 2nd raise puts me AI?

big stack is 51/2/0/162hnds (this may just be Nov stats)
