lol if you check that chan hasnt cashed in the WSOP since like 1992 you realize he cannot beat much these days anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not trying to say Chan is the best or whatever, but uh...hasn't he won like 6 or 7 WSOP events since '92? Or are you just talking about the ME?

I
Todd would surely book steady wins, but I think its dubious that he would likely rank in the top 3 or 4 in this lineup in terms of amount won.

ugh I thought Todd won A LOT of money in his playing career

If you don't think Johnny Chan is one of the best players in the world, you don't know a thing about poker. You should just log off now!!!!!!!! He is one of the reasons poker is so big today. He is also a real gentleman.

[/ QUOTE ]

He is supposed to be one of the biggest dbags in poker - arrogant, etc.

He got 10 bracelets - yes, but he doesnt play too well nowadays. When did he go deep the last time in the ME ?
And Hellmuth is superior to him in tournament poker, i dont know how good Chan plays CGs compared to PH.

Different topic:
I heard they forced a 3rd blind on the 500k-day?! I am hoping that they dont get fancy and force the players to do the 72-game on one of the later seasons(!).
I wanna see a normal highstakes cash game as it would be played in a regular casino.
Maybe my concerns are wrong, but I got my reasons (forced 500k buyin, forced 3rd blind).

Pfft! So he won $15.5 million off Andy Beal over the course of three days. So what? It's not like Andy's a math genius and one of the best head's up players in the world or something.

Oh! wait... Andy is a math genius and one of the best head's up players in the world.

OOPS!

Good point. His games with Andy were all head's up limit hold'em.

I am a bit surprised at the love Todd is getting here, not saying he isn't a good player because he obviously is. But he barely plays any NL. Antonio E would definitely be a much bigger favorite than Todd in this lineup, and is probably the best player in this bunch.

If Todd was a little more comfortable playing deep stack NL (he bought in for the min), and had a little more experience playing NL it would be a different story.

There are very few of us on this board that really know a lot about Todd's game selection (myself included). I thnk we hear about the love other players have given him about the money he's won and his money management.

So many of us assume he's excellent at all forms of poker. I think what I like about him is he seems like a pretty str8 up guy and certainly doesn't appear to play anything up for the cameras.

Just from the little I've heart about him, he seems pretty smart about game selection. I've read he'll step down from the top game if he sees a very soft game below it. I'm not sure many of the top pros would do that. My guess is he sees quite a few donks in this HSP game and doesn't really care whether he's considered the best player or not.

My guess is that he was pretty sure he was folding on the river if he didn't hit that flush, but was making a few moves to make sure. If it was Matusow, I'm sure he would've insta-called, and the decision would have been tougher against Hellmuth. I'm sure he's looking at those two and a few others at the table to make money off of, not particularly Laak.

I have a question: the minimum buyin in the game is 100k, but do we know who bought in for how much? I see that Mike bought in for a min, but I have no info on other players. I am asking because it does affect the strategy.
