Default Knife VS Bat, who wins?

Got in an argument with some friends this weekend. If you were gonna fight someone, all factors being equal- size, weight, skill, etc...would you choose a bat or a knife, and why? Your opponent would get the other.

Bat for the reach advantage. Guy with the knife would never get close enough to do any damage.

question i always like to ask: man with bat or man with 2 bats as arms, starting at the elbows?

Ugh. I was sort of excited because I thought you meant a bat, as in a flying bat, and that would have at least been the least bit interesting.
