Sniper,

Forgive me if this question has been asked previously in this thread, but do you have the stats to give a spreadsheet on actual page views per forum, and not just posts?

I like that sports is #3 in posts/thread behind only POG and the Sklansky Forum. We rock at the discussion.

Daily page views have been fluctuating between roughly 500K-1M, according to big-boards. I do not have a breakdown by forum...

Sniper,

Thanks. Too bad we don't get a breakdown by forum.

Regarding that graph though, is that showing there was a spike in the forum's views in the runup to the UIGEA which subsequently petered out back to normal, or has 2+2's readership suffered since same from normal levels prior to that?

Bluff, I think that if you used post counts to approximate the distribution of page views, it would be a fairly accurate distribution...

Yeah, the spikes are legislation related, here's the annual graph...

BTW, I believe that the numbers reported by Big-Boards understate the actual figures, because there are some people using firefox that are blocking the big-boards counter (I base this statement on the fact that I can confirm that Big-boards max daily user counts are lower than the forum software calculates)... the stats do show (aside from a legislative related spike) that the unique daily user #'s had been trending up throughout 2006 (currently in the 20K-25K range).

It would be nice if we could get Chuck to post some server side or google analytics info, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for that... so, we go with what we have access to (which includes occasional statements from Mason that confirm the info we can see)

... and overall, I think post counts are a good metric, which is one of the reasons why I started the thread in the first place

is it possible to correlate the number of posts per forum with the number of views per forum?

is it possible to find out how many lurkers just read each forum without posting?

I think that there is a "rough" correlation, but haven't looked into it enough to estimate a ratio yet.

In general, the number of unregistered readers is usually higher than the number of registered readers, at any given time. Also, the avg 2+2 poster has somewhere around 100+ posts, the "mean" is obviously much lower. So in general, there are far more readers than posters.

Here's the big-boards graph of unique visitors for the year...

Mid month update... Top 10... Jan posts/day...
(representing 65% of 2+2 posts)

BBV - 1388
OOT - 1272
SSNL - 1114
uNL - 726
SE - 657
POG - 589
STT - 528
MSNL - 409
IG - 311
uL - 310

By my estimates, 2+2 posting is running 20%+ behind expectation, due to the slowdown/connection issues...
