Is it bad if I would almost rather write a computer program to randomize words for me in this fashion rather than just manually scramble the letters?

That probably shouldn't be too complicated. I vote no as I like things done the hard way.

Try using big words, and that study falls so [censored]. Words with like 10+ letters.

That's because the average person's vocabulary only includes about 20 words of more than 10 letters.
