Re: NBA Finals
What exactly and who exactly do you expect the Cavs to move and or work with. The only truly valuable player they have on the team will never be traded.
They also have a bunch of horrible contracts. Larry Hughes-Way overpaid, makes 15 this year, 12 next, 12.8 the next. He's not horrible but has a horrible deal and hasn't performed near expectations since the FA deal. Z-10.1 ,10.8 ,11.5 option. Not horribly paid for a big man but still overpaid for his production. Drew Gooden-6.4,7.1-Not paid badly just not that good. Eric Snow-Horrible deal, 6.7, 7.3 the next two years. Marshall-Another bad MLE. 5.5, 5.9 the next two years Damon Jones-Overpaid-4.1, 4.4. Newble-Maybe the most overpaid person on their team but is only tied up for 1 more season-3.4. Only good value players are Pavlovic and Varejao and Gibson. Varejao is a FA. I think most people know what the Cavs need. The need better production from just about every position but from Lebron. A real PG wouldn't hurt. Better post offensive players wouldn't hurt either. Defensively the Cavs are really solid and when Gibson couldn't miss their O wasn't horrible. The problem I see with their team is some of the bad contracts they've signed which will be hard to get rid of. They also need Varejao to mature quickly offensively on top of getting some of their bad contracts either out of town or off the books. It isn't easy. Nobody wants some of the their bad contracts. |

Re: NBA Finals
But we do have an MLE, and last year we used it on Scott Pollard and David Wesley. Try to move Z and/or Hughes for another team's bad contract that fits in with the Cavs better. But mostly act like he realizes this team has flaws.

Re: NBA Finals
If it wasn't obvious from this series, the Cavs need some people who can score and create their own shot. Additionally, Lebron needs to work on his jumper. It was painfully obvious with Bowen on him that it wasn't as good as it looked in the previous series.

Re: NBA Finals
Any Cavs fans excited about the futures of Gibson and Pavolic?
Fly, Meh I don't see any team taking up Hughes or Z anytime soon. Their contracts are horrendous that even the Lakers don't want them (right?! Please don't trade for these two). I hope Hughes bounces back and become what he was in Washington, though. What a waste of monies on this kid. |

Re: NBA Finals
Hopefully Lebron can get his first ring in a couple years after they release the dead weight on their roster. The only problem I have with the Cavs future (aside from their roster woes) is Mike Brown. He may be a "defensive mastermind" but with the lack of an offensive scheme to use Lebron, it makes me worried.

Re: NBA Finals
If Lebron had Boozer, a better PG who was pass first (doesn't have to be as good as Deron Williams, etc. but decent), and a post defender (Z really isn't that bad, he's just old) as well as some of the young pieces he had on the team, I think they would have competed better with the Spurs. Even so the Spurs might be too much for them. They also lacked 1 big thing, championship experience and they got trumped by the team with the most in the NBA.
