Anybody who thinks ESPN taking over the show is a good thing needs to watch "Tilt". [/ QUOTE ] I just want it to stay on tv. Although its probably better that it dies than to go the way ESPN tv shows have gone. Everything bombs there. What was that other football show that didnt last? |

Re: Friday Night Lights Season 2
Playmakers was pretty bad iirc. I seem to remember a player shooting up (or somehow getting high) in the lockerroom during a game. That show started had jumped the shark the moment it first aired.
That said, when a show moves to another network, does that network typically get all hands-on and start messing with it? Seems like they'd probably just leave it alone for the most part, but I could be wrong. |

NBC seems to have "ok" shows, they at least have a few that are watchable whereas networks like ABC seem to churn out craptastic Grey's and Ugly Betty type shows one after another (Lost is the only watchable show there). ESPN is a black hole for shows. HBO is gold. So, if FNL were to move what would happen to it? |

Claunchy,
Playmaker's first season was good, but halfway through the second season they would have exhausted every plot line save terrorists kidnapping the team. |

Re: Friday Night Lights Season 2
Well I think shows rarely move when they're at their peak, networks aren't gonna risk losing those ratings to another network. So you'll see a move happen when it's nearing its last legs and a network just doesn't think it's worth renewing. I mean there may be a lot behind the scenes too but that's my take. Growing up, Diff'rent Strokes moved from NBC to ABC after at least several seasons if not more in the Saturday 8/7 slot.
There are no doubt many other examples, recent ones such as The Surreal Life or even Letterman, which many argue was never as good as it was on NBC. But neither of those are scripted series so I'm just rambling at this point. We need some actual Hollywood insiders to tell us how much meddling a network does with a show. My guess is not much outside of casting. |
