i'm still wondering why the hell farnsworth was brought in... the guy is just a walking zoo, even though yeah he did better than viz he's jsut a walking disaster and was insanely blessed to get out of that inning without giving up a run... tyvm betemit

it was just annoying to not have really open up the game for nyy in the 5th, 6th OR 7th... after a-rod's 40th we had first and second with 0 out and coatcheck managed to snag cano's grounder... then melky decides to take a called third strike and hangs phillips out to dry... and then damon manages to pump a dp right into kotchman... *tear*

Love and hate can be very fickle -- and Farnsworth was definitely lucky to escape the 8th inning last night -- but
over their last 5 appearances (oh, how I love the small sample size):

Krazy Kyle: 5IP, 0ER, 1H, 2BB, 5K
Boston's Bullpen Savior: 4IP, 8ER, 10H, 2BB, 7K

I still cringe at every appearance by Kyle... but since Boston really had no need for Gagne and likely made the trade primarily to keep him away from the Yankees, seeing Gagne shelled becomes so much sweeter.

thats not really true. at the time fo the trade, timlin was looking cooked, donnelly was scheduled for tommy john, and okajima has already pitched more innings this year in any since 2001. the bullpen numbers look nice overall, but they needed a RH set up man pretty badly.
