I thought about making a thread about this, but it's pretty LC.

How often do you look at your balance or otherwise check how your session is going during play?

I try to only check at the end of my session, b/c I'll get frustrated if I'm struggling or losing a lot. Even when I'm up a lot, I may tighten up to protect my winnings. This is tilt either way (emotions affecting play).

BAsically, I don't want my results to affect how I'm playing so I'm gonna stop looking altogether. Not just for the day, but for the month.

I'm gonna see how this works, and prehaps I'll just start checking my balance weekly.

Thoughts? Would this provide a pyschological edge?

That is why I play way overbankrolled for any level I play.

I check mine every once in a while, but it doesn't really affect me much and I usually even forget what the number was.

I always look after when I do my session review. I like to start there and then go through why I was up/down and analyze/etc my play to see how I could've improved

Edit: Just FYI, I don't check it much at all when I know I am down quite a few buyins, because that could affect my play.

i look constantly, all the time. i think when im down money it *can* help, because i tend to get that motivation to grind it back. when im up, i dont think it affects my play really. i never chase losses, and my tilt control has greatly improved, so im not worried about it negatively affecting me when im down. its getting to be habit now, because sometimes ill tell myself im not gonna check pt, but i do by accident. i could do a session, i could never do a week.

I'll never go bust at 200, it's not my roll that would affect me...
It's just when I'm down 4-5buyins, I start thinking negatively -- things like "why do I run so bad", "god I'm gonna have to grind for 2days to get this back", etc.

If I could just continue to think positively... I think there's a lot of power in that. Just trying to find out how I can harness that.

One step I'll make is to never complain/brag about how I'm running from now on. Obv I'll post hands, but no more complaining. It's not like anyone actually cares anyways.

I imagine if I stayed at a level as long as you I could do it, because the swings would be so little to me by then I just wouldn't care.

But of course then I wouldn't be affected by 4-5buyins, so the only reason I would stop looking is because I genuinely didn't care. I did this at the end of my 1/2 stay and I was there for like 2 months.

I check mine like every 10 min. I need to know where I stand. I was pretty happy only losing a buyin today after being down 3 for like 1k hands in the middle of the session and getting down a BI pretty early. I made some really good plays vs. some regs too.
