your point is valid rootabager

from what I've read, money is related to happiness until one reaches a level at which their basic needs are taken care of

I made that remark to Thremp because I know that he, like most of us, already has his basic needs met. From that point on, there is a love-hate relationship with money due to reference points to peer groups and personal perception of money.

Thremp, the long-term effects are unknown in your anecdotal stories

There is no proof that those once overweight will see huge longevity benefits from losing the weight, so of course I'm not conceding that. Most research suggests the exact opposite.

For the most part, weight is what it is

If one wants to live longer,
-don't smoke
-don't abuse alcohol and drugs
-get regular exercise
-eat balanced based on the body's intuitive mechanisms

weight has little to do with health--only the extreme tails of the bell curve
BTW-the curve at the skinnier end that has a negative effect is larger and more detrimental

[/ QUOTE ]

You're big on the intuition thing. What makes intuition so hot? What if I'm a moron, self-indulgent, or I "intuit" that chocolate needs to play a pretty big part in my life? Okay, skip the first two, because you may already think I am, but so far I've steered clear of the third one...

This is what fat poor people say to make themselves feel better about not being rish and McSexy.

I'd certainly feel better right now if someone doubled my monthly income and improved my quasi-Adonis like body to full blown Adonis.

True, also overrated when you have it easily. We all tend to take whatever we have going on as the baseline. If we get rich or sexy, that's our new baseline. We'll always find plenty of other things to be unhappy about, if that's what we're into. It's basic human nature.

Try to take away a rich man's money and see how little he values it. Tell a beautiful girl she would look just as good fat and she'll know you're full of it.
