Robber two makes a run for it; but is chased down, severely beaten and turned into the police.

Brag: Robber attempts to punk my friend. Ends up w/o a head.

Beat: I stayed home to play poker.

Variance: Shampooing your carpet sucks ass.

The problem with shooting to wound is you don't know what'll happen.

Let's say that when Villain mouths off, OP's friend shoots him in the shoulder. Good chance that Villain will drop the gun in severe pain. But there's also a chance that Villain (intentionally or by reflex) would pull the trigger and kill the hostage (or OP's friend).

I'm Canadian, and don't really have any issue with how this was handled. I mean the people suggesting you let them rob you are not wrong. It's an option. But in a split second you have to make that decision, and this guy pulled out his weapon (that he owns legally). The moment you go down that road, you have to shoot to kill. Police are trained the same way. Because if you aim to injure, you could miss.

All that said, I'm really disappointed about the dialogue used. I would have accepted:

"And you will know my name is the lord !"

or

"that is one TASTY burger"

or

"I'll execute every last [censored] one of you"

etc...
