Here's a sick stat. Pat Burrell is batting .230, but he's 7th in the league in OBP. [/ QUOTE ] If you watch he's not chasing away. Pitchers are still pitching him away though, hence the walks. |

[/ QUOTE ] To be fair, it looks like he's made a determined effort to swing at first pitches this year. The bottom line is that Burrell's just not that good of a hitter, which you can tell based on how many 2-0 fastballs down the middle he pops up. I don't think we should be complaining about a .400 OBP even if it comes at the expense of a lower batting average and a few more strikeouts. |

Did they have to send Barajas out? Couldn't they use a starter to PH?

They could, but Barajas, no matter how much of a turd, is still a better option than pinch-hitting with a pitcher.

I was at the game last night. A look of horror crossed my face as I saw Bourn coming out to pinch-run, knowing that Barajas was all that would be left to pinch-hit later that inning

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
why did bourn look in the outfield while rounding 2nd in the 9th instead of picking up the 3rd base coach? that sh*t bothers me. although i dont think he coulda scored anyway from the error, but still
terrible baserunning team also, going to game tonite. w00t |
