Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
[ QUOTE ]
wow, I thought Estrada was actually pretty good. (Edit, guess not with that .296 OBP last year!) [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. Estrada had a really good year in 2004, but hasn't done much since. |

Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
Also from Metsblog:
[ QUOTE ] In the Daily News, Adam Rubin speculates that if the Mets ultimately trade for another catcher, ‘they could always decline to offer Estrada a contract in December, which would make him a free agent without any money owed.’ …so, at minimum, this deal costs the Mets nothing if they cut estrada, because the Brewers are paying for mota, or it costs the Mets roughly $1 million, since estrada will likely earn around $5 million in arbitration, should the Mets keep him…either way, it gets rid of mota, and gives the Mets a temporary, two-headed solution at catcher should a more substantial acquisition for a catcher never come down the pike, such as O’s C Ramon Hernandez, who i am sure omar still has his eye on… [/ QUOTE ] |

this is fine, estrada had a really nice stretch sometime with the braves, but this is a solid addition with him and castro platooning...

I'm surprised we got anything for Mota. I would have been happy to trade him for a sack of quarters to beat Glavine with. Oh and Mota is somehow going to throw a no hitter next year, FTW. [/ QUOTE ] I think the Brewers value a sack of quarters more than Johnny Estrada. |

Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
why didnt bobo just post himself, did he get banned?
also holler at mota being gone, this is the best move this franchise has made in like 10 years, yes its even better than drafting david wright. |

Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
i really think the Mets will land a big starter (Santana, Haren, Blanton) and maybe a small starter (Silva) and will put el duque and pelfrey in the pen (assuming pelfrey is still here)

Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
if the mets sign silva, i will root for the marlins next year...i really think that guy is garbage and he will want at least a 4/40 right??
haren and blanton are very attractive options, but with beane, he will want a ton back, to the point where we'd get robbed... santana is a dream atm, but who knows, maybe the mets will/can step up with a sweet package on the bright side, we won't have to deal with chad cordero and his -2 era against us as much this season |
