You DON'T want to steal their blinds everytime as a GOOD shortstacker will just shove a really wide range. If you fold 2/3 times he only needs 33% equity versus your calling range.
Sure you can beat nitty shortstackers like this but a good shortstacker will adjust to this and start shoving much wider with hands that have good equity versus your calling range.
Sure opening smaller helps but you DON'T want to ship them your open raise 2 out of 3 times.
Say you open for 3BB from the Button, SB folds. 20BB shortstack in the big blind shoves.
If you fold 2 out of 3 times shortstack will win 7BB. If he loses less than 7BB on average when called his shove is +EV.
Why would you want to open 74s on the button when you will be facing a shove quite often?
SB will have a fairly tight range as he should fear a squeeze from the BB and BB only has 20BB so the postflop value of your hand goes down the drain.

Haha. This thread is funny. Almost everyone is an idiot barring the shorties (except FatalError) and Vanveen.

i think somtimes people forget that at the end of the day.
Poker is about one thing,Your trying to take my money, and Im trying to take yours.
Anything that falls within that field is fair game.

just incase people decide to get inconsiderate,of course collusion, and cheating aspects dont apply, but unfortunately its about taking money and theres different strategies.
its all about adapting to your situation and making it work for you.

Rofl, so your basically saying 'football is a game where the two teams are trying to score more points than each other. Anything within that field is fair game.' Do you have no concept of sportsmanship, ethics etc etc?

Edit: not saying shortstacking is unethical btw, though I think ratholing is.

meh, you can do anything "within the rules" to score points in football, I think that was his point, you can onside kick in the first half if you think its +EV...
You can't like stab another player or something because thats outside the arbitrary rules that everyone has agreed to and understands going into the game.
