Re: LOTR: Return of the King (GAME THREAD)
Books: Your role looked tough, and I'm a little surprised you didn't have more fun with it. In your spot, I probably give it all away with my mocking
I do agree the village had an advantage going in, though I don't necessarily agree with luckay's point system. NOTE: I don't necessarily disagree with it either. I'm too lazy to look it over |

always vote for the player with most votes. [/ QUOTE ] this is probably the optimal play get an extra roleblock most of the time also, books, your point value comes from the village having to spend a lynch on you |

And yes, Dustin's lynch was absolutely disgusting, and Luckay needs to not get lynched by actually claiming.

Re: LOTR: Return of the King (GAME THREAD)
Oliphant rider is worth significantly more than a Nazgul, witchking and Sauron are probably underrated, but yeah, village should still roll with this setup, I think.

Re: LOTR: Return of the King (GAME THREAD)
uh
king theoden is worse than a normal villager aragorn is not worth 5 mouth of sauron is worth more because of the bonus roleblock oliphant rider worth less than vanilla? are you nuts? you didn't factor the ring unmaking (very unlikely, maybe 1 point for village tops) and ring being lost (at least 3-4 points for wolves) at all wolves had it must lynch with a peeked godfather and jeremy / fmxda played VERY well to escape the village loss |

If he claims, the wolves can get an extra kill at the cost of a peek. I'm shocked he didn't claim, actually Lynching dustin wasn't so bad. He should have claimed earlier. Waiting until ~10 minutes before night to claim a nothing role? That's LOL Dustin, not LOL village |

King Theoden is definitely not worse than a normal villager, and it doesn't really matter. Aragorn might drop a point there. Even with all those tweaks, village should be like a 3 or 4 point favorite. |

uh king theoden is worse than a normal villager [/ QUOTE ] surprisingly, not really, because king theoden is actually a confirmed villager. Don't underestimate confirmed villagers [ QUOTE ] aragorn is not worth 5 [/ QUOTE ] you're sorta right here, but aragorn can just perma-protect gandalf when he comes out (as was done, optimal strategy). Maybe aragorn is worth like 3.5, I can dig that [ QUOTE ] mouth of sauron is worth more because of the bonus roleblock [/ QUOTE ] factored in, I thought a "confirmed evil" was worth about 1.5 points [ QUOTE ] you didn't factor the ring unmaking (very unlikely, maybe 1 point for village tops) and ring being lost (at least 3-4 points for wolves) at all [/ QUOTE ] the thing about ring being lost is that I figure at worst it happens around day 4-5 (and that is saying AT WORST), which is just about day 7 anyways. I mean, maybe you add 1 or 2 points to evil for this. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: LOTR: Return of the King (GAME THREAD)
Yes, this one leaned slightly toward the village after I reworked it for fewer people. I think it was balanced in its original implementation (28 people, one more wolf), but I pretty much had to remove a wolf to make it work with fewer. And I didn't want to screw with the Gollum or Mouth roles, because I liked the way they matched the real story.
I don't use a "point system" like Luckay did, and I don't think his assessments are quite right (the Rider is stronger than the Nazgul, not weaker, for one, and Aragorn is not as powerful as Frodo by a longshot). The Mouth role needed to be actively "leveling" the village to make an impact. Yes there's a risk that you're giving information away, but that's the risk you take. Voting for random people who aren't in any danger is just self-neutralizing the role's power, and a second roleblock in the first 5 or so days is worth quite a bit. |
