He's still pissed from when Jack rivered him on his set of Qs hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

Jack flopped the set of kings. Sawyer rivered the Q.

Sawyer: "Looks like you lose, doc. That queen makes me a set."

Jack responds with the greatest slowroll in TV history.

Kate should have been wagering with articles of clothing instead of fruit.

two more things:

1.) i'm surprised everyone glossed over nolanfan's pickup of the 108 minute limitation to the mapmaker's travel ability. if true, doesn't that mean that all the hatches are like a 54 minute walk at most? or at least they were by some underground tunnel system or something. we know the caduceus is close to the swan, and the flame appears to be between them. so it's really close.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would not be suprised to find that they are connected, especially because of the lines that connect them on the map. Another explanation is that the map was mostly made while there were two people manning the station, as the film explained there would be. (Desmond and the other guy he mentioned?) So one guy could go explore while the other stayed and pressed the button. Would also explain why there's distinctly more than one handwriting style.

I wonder how long it took to draw that map. The doors were only down for a few minutes. If they coincide with the supply drop, they may only be down a few minutes each month or more.

I assume there's a way to manually bring them down. Maybe different codes on the computer?

What I'd like to know is why would someone be making the map and keeping it secret? All the while pushing the button? Someone must have infiltrated the Dharma group. Hanso Foundation was presumably a known scientific organization back in the day. Then maybe they crossed the line in some ethical way, went underground, and some other organization came to spy/report on them. The map notes indicate the creator(s) had scientific knowledge, and knowledge of Dharma, beyond what lostaway-type people would have.

If there was 2 people then the 108 minute explore time doesnt fit.

Excellent episode though.

reading other forums on this...and the another cool thing is talk about "The Pearl?" comment and the fact that is says Save yourself from hell and dragons reside here in latin next to it. For a long time ppl have thought there is an underwater station (one theory for the power cords or whatever going into the ocean...also because of the Dharma logo that is on the shark that sawyer shoots while on the raft). In literature, pearls have often been v dangerous things as well....just sounds cool if true, like there is some seriously f'ed up [censored] going on with some sort of underwater station.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you might be onto something here...remember that random dude from the beach that got killed when charlie didn't bring claire to ethan? Well they said that he had come from the water..which could explain an underwater station or he could have been dropped off by the bearded guy on his boat, meh.

I know I wouldn't go many places by myself on that island. They probably only traveled to unknown locations together.
