It's possible, but somehow I doubt it.

So you're assuming he had extensive knowledge of the 1924 Olympic Rugby competition that he intentionally withheld?

That's what they are assuming....

FWIW, I had no idea rugby was an olympic event, nor that the US even had a team prior to reading the article.

Truth be told, I googled the following, in order to see if their was any relevant information related to the hypothetical from history:

"superb athletes" "never before played rugby"

Try it yourself at home....

Either way....again, my apologies for citing actual historical facts accurately as they occured.

I didn't realize that would be a problem amidst the rampant speculation, assumption, conjecture, and outright distortion otherwise occuring in this thread.

Have a nice day.

I think some of you guys are also overestimating the link between pure athletic ability and competence in any particular sport. Someone like Randy Moss is 100* the athlete that, say, matt le tissier was, but hed never ever be close to the footballer that LeTiss was...... its not just a case of saying, well this guy is faster and stronger so he could be better if he wanted to. See Michael Jordan for example - training someone in a new sport mid career just isnt that easy. And AFAIK MJ had a pretty extensive baseball playing history, unlike these NFL players who may not have even seen a rugby game before

Dean,
But there are a lot of similar skills between Rugby and Football, alot more so than football and soccer (lol) and Baseball and basketball.

I agree, but saying that some 290 lb guy who is real fast for his size, and where 90% of his job is to block people, could transfer to rugby......is stupid.

Running backs I agree with.
