Pitching this year is definitely more deeper than the past 2 years.

The problem is it appears to be mega injury prone

Andy,Moose,CMW are solid then a strong dropoff to Pavano and Igawa.

Moose is gonna be on the DL multiple times this year. Hopefully CMW and Andy can stay healthy. Pavano is a joke and I think Igawa will be solid one start and lousy the next but may get bailed out by the Yankee's offense.

papelboner is scary good. he appears to be what Mo used to be back in the day.

No doubt Papelbon has got heat, but you guys are acting like Rivera's done his career or something. He blew two saves, big deal. Just a bad patch. Before those two BS's, he threw 4 IP on the year, allowing just one hit. Saying he's old or "not like he used to be" is silly.

The long ball sure killed the Yanks tonight. They definetly should have won at least one game this weekend... probably could have won 2.

He's 37 dude...you have to expect him to start to slow down/break down with each passing year and all the work Torre has given him.

Its early...but his control was bad..his cutter didn't have hardly any movement...and his velocity was waay down.

I don't think Rivera has lost it.

I do think his stuff was noticeably off against the Sox. I have seen the Sox get to him a couple of times, but every other time it took bloop singles and great patient hitting. I thought Rivera's stuff didn't move much and looked pretty ordinary. I suppose time will tell.

as I said earlier this thread, he's not as effective vs the Red Sox as he is vs everyone else. he's blown 9/30 last save chances vs the Red Sox. it's basically like Pedro was at the end of his career vs the Yankees - still very good, but they had gotten used to him

how does farnsworth feel tonight knowing his manager trusts a starter, who just threw 100 pitches friday night, over him in relief? is he hurt or something?

i thought wright looked like he could end up being a decent ML starter, but then again, the red sox have a tendency to make marginal lefties look totally decent for a while. still, the kid is a lefty with three decent pitches that he can throw for strikes. he'll hang around.

fantastic to see the sox grit out these wins, and even better to see the lesser bats get some big hits. tek can hit about .210 this year so long as he bangs out 7 or 8 hits every series against the yanks.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Varitek looks really goofy wearing his pant legs up with high-top-ish cleats?
