Bump for posterity - NC here, ignore it.

Anyway, next time we do HULA, it should be in September-ish. In March, we should do an individual HULA, set up like March Madness.

I'd like to see something like a double elimination event with a low buyin (eg $5-$10). that would be fun.

there's an easy way to remedy that: use the hu tourneys at stars and pre-schedule the whole thing.

Then what was the HU league that a a prominent micro poster at the time started, and was later shut down by the same person when most people that signed up lost interest?

wasnt this also poorly structures and games took forever to finish?

if we had a gambool one where everybody started with 25bb that would be much faster.

NF,

You're thinking of the right one, but you weren't around when we finished.

What exactly would be the point then sir?

Not for nothing but I like my play interactions with others on this board to be a blend of learning experience and a contest of skill. This means that steps have to be taken to eliminate variance by any means necessary. The current way HULA is set up does that. Sure, the best players can hit a bad run of cards for a single game, but not likely 5 in a row. And in such an event, that player has 4 teammates to back him up and still pull out a win. Seldom will an entire team suffer at the hand at the variance stick, resulting in more than 1 random loss.

This structure rewards Captains who do their homework, have good play-skill, and the patience and knowledge to help their team with their shortcomings. It rewards individual players with decent play-skill and a genuine zeal to improve their game. It provides us all with a decent gauge for those skills against other thinking players.

Sure in the end, that means a little bit more time on everyones behalf, but that's what it takes for a devotion to a craft sir.

If you want to gambool we can do that in a limit MTT or even HU MTT.
