I'm not a big fan of us only being able to score by the home run right now, but I guess I can't complain too much.

Byrd without a doubt. Westbrook showed some signs of brilliance in August, but appears to not quite be there yet.

I was at the game last night and the crowd was absolutely electric. It felt much like it did in the mid 90's and I am very happy to see that return to Cleveland as there is nothing like October baseball on Lake Erie.

On a final note, how satisfying is it to totally own Michigan in every significant sport over the last year?

Mike Bauman is a national columnist for MLB.com.

CLEVELAND -- On Wednesday afternoon, the Cleveland Indians reminded everyone why they not only have virtually locked up the American League Central, but also why they could be a very dangerous postseason opponent.

The Indians were successful on both the collective and individual fronts in this one. They beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-2, thus sweeping this three-game series and ending the Central race in all but the final, official, mathematical way. The Indians are 7 1/2 games ahead of the Tigers with only 10 games left.

And C.C. Sabathia solidified an AL Cy Young Award bid that was already very promising. With seven more innings of controlling another baseball game, Sabathia improved his record to 18-7 with a 3.19 earned run average.

Sabathia's chances look better than ever, because some of the most prominent Cy Young candidates have had unsuccessful outings in recent crucial games. New York's Chien-Ming Wang was beaten soundly in what was supposed to be a marquee matchup with Boston's Josh Beckett. And on Tuesday night, Detroit's Justin Verlander was battered for four home runs by these same Indians.

Sabathia's credentials are all in order. Only Beckett has more victories than Sabathia in the AL, but Sabathia leads the Major Leagues in the telling category of innings pitched with 234. And his strikeouts-to-walks ratio of 5.69 (205:
