Re: September Low-Content Thread
There's this wino named Mike who plays at the Bike a lot but sometimes wanders over to Commerce. He's an Asian dude with long hair and blonde highlights, and his eyes are usually glazed over, his skin pink, and his lips shiny with spit after the third bottle of Sutter Home he's chugged.
Anyway, Mike was there tonight and he couldn't stop telling this story about The Worst Beat He Ever Saw (and the consequential actions the player took). The way he told the story and laughed while repeating the details made me about 99.5% convinced that the story is true. A while ago, in the mid-limit games at the Bike which have a nice little jackpot that goes up to $100,000 at certain times if you hit it the hard way, there was a hand between three players: Player 1 -- AA Player 2 -- KK Player 3 -- 77. Preflop it gets capped. The flop comes down AKK. Bet, call, call (KK slowplays, 77 takes one off). Now AA has flopped the BBJ and is due about $50,000. Turn brings a 7, river a 7. Now the guy with 77 wins the 50k, KK gets his 25k, and AA is relegated to splitting the table share, after suffering the worst 989-1 runner-runner ever. So what does he do? He leaves the game, runs to a barbershop, and gets his hair shaved off. Bald. The next time he comes back into the casino everyone sees that he shaved all his hair off and they burst out laughing. |

Re: September Low-Content Thread
I just had the most amazing preflop session in my poker life. In 6 hours I was dealt AA-JJ at least 15 times. I flopped a set of kings once, turned 2 other sets of kings and turned a set of aces. Instead I lost with my flopped set of kings to AQ when it came KTxJy (the other player in the pot had JT; of course a T can never hit the river)AND the flush came, so it was easy to fold the river when it went check, bet, call...fold. Ugh. Lost with another pair of kings to AK and AQ when an ace flopped. Lost with yet another pair of kings to BOTH a guy with a running flush (J9o) and a guy who flopped top set (river checked through. retard made his 9-high flush and hated it). Lost with queens at least twice and won once that I can recall. Lost the max with AA on a 975 board when I decided to call the SB's flop c/r and raise the turn, but the SB 3bet me when a blank hit. I folded the river UI. Won a big pot with two jacks. I won $2800. I was supposed to win $20,000 in that 100/200 session given the hands I started with. So dumb.

Re: September Low-Content Thread
So does it make me a degenerate if I've been in Santa Barbara for less than 3 hours and I'm already planning to drive down to Commerce in a couple hours to play for the day before classes start?
