Re: Updated Cliff Notes On Absolute Poker Scandal (18th October)
This has been a fascinating read.
Personally I think it's pretty obvious why Absolute isn't participating / talking in these threads. They don't know what happened, either, and anything they say is going to be plastered all over these forums and P5s, and poker rags/blogs everywhere. The people involved probably weren't issuing memos about what they were doing. It's a pretty standard operating procedure to say "We're investigating and can't tell you anything until we're done." I don't think that is nefarious or disingenuous. I think it is the height of discretion. If they try to confirm/deny every accusation that is leveled they would spend all their time countering. Plus it would be a waste of time. People believe what they want and they don't really care about 'official' denials anyway. They need to investigate and get a complete picture so they know how to deal with it. But I'm willing to bet that even if they DO find something their party line will be, "We found impropriety, and we dealt with it." They'll need to close off whatever holes the investigators/auditors find, but the whole thing will be summed up in a basic statement like that. They might include a statement saying monies were returned if that happens, since that would be something that increase player confidence. In the meantime their marketing department will be coming up with some promotion to make sure their players don't leave. |

Re: Updated Cliff Notes On Absolute Poker Scandal (18th October)
Guys, going on a massive witch hunt to hunt down new possible cheaters at this juncture is just pointless and will take attention away from the current issue. We have concrete evidence that people on Absolute are cheating, and we need to focus on holding AP accountable for their last month of straight 'damage control' and worry more about getting the word out about this situation and getting the answers to the questions posed, and spend less time distracting people reading the thread from the pertinent issues at hand.
And as for the people suggesting requesting more hand histories from AP, are you retarded? Do you seriously expect them to be dumb enough to incriminate themselves further by sending out more XLS spreadsheets with private user info on them, and dig themselves into a bigger hole? Especially when it has been confirmed that they are reading these threads? Wow the naievity of some of the posters here is completely appalling. Stop reading so many bad mystery novels. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] to just reinforce what ad said, this is what I said in the last thread [ QUOTE ] Guys, please refrain from witch hunts for now. It is pretty scary and could get us into trouble. We have absolute by the balls and we should just keep up the pressure on spreading the news of what we 100% KNOW is cheating. [/ QUOTE ] The more noise you create the less people will focus on the undeniable facts. Our focus should be on spreading the word and not going on witch hunts. We know cheating exists, we have a very strong case and there is no point diluting our case by going on a witchhunt. [/ QUOTE ] Can we have a witch-hunt-thread then? McBill and Oscar133 are so suspicious. But I understand completely, I wont post anymore witch-huntish. [/ QUOTE ] it is appalllinggggg to me that you guys do not find kohleppel suspicious. Only 1st places? Cmon now... there has to be more to this does ANYONE have hand histories with that guy??????? [/ QUOTE ] If i read right: he played winner takes all tourneys and they were ONLY LISTED IF HE WINS THEM. [/ QUOTE ] It does seem suspicious that he has a bunch of 1st place finishes. However, if you look at each individual tourney, you will notice that most of these are satellite tourneys. He may primarily play in satellite tournaments, thus whenever he wins a seat, it'll mark him down for 1st place. The only thing that seems a bit shady with this guy is the 1st place in the $500 tourney though... |

" Pocketfives (P5's) PocketFives has got to be the biggest joke for a online poker forum on the net. They go to this meeting and come back with nothing. All PocketFives cares about is there affiliate links & making money."
Please stop hating on P5s in regards to this subject. They were one of the 1st websites to pull AP's ads. What would you have expected them to do while at the AP offices, hold them at gunpoint until they got what they wanted? They went there because they were invited and had nothing to lose. Obviously they didn't get much but then neither has Dan with his phone calls but we don't vilify him for trying. Not much they can do if AP isn't willing to cooperate. |

Re: Updated Cliff Notes On Absolute Poker Scandal (18th October)
Guys,
I just got the Casinomeister newsletter... here's what Bryan has to say: [ QUOTE ] WORD FROM THE MEISTER ABSOLUTE POKER - A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT? Or perhaps they're a month late in having a third party investigate the allegations many players have been making since mid-September. If you have been living in some non-poker cyber-cave and don't know what has been transpiring, Absolute Poker is in the crosshairs of a large group of players who claim they have evidence of cheats in the poker room. The allegations are that these cheats work there. Absolute Poker is licensed in Kahnawake, which doesn't have a stellar record of getting involved with player complaints, but it looks like the Mohawks are taking this one seriously. Here is a report from Infopowa news today [Infopowa report snipped] Now, these guys were placed into the not recommended section of the rogue pit before my Barcelona trip. This was mainly due to the sloppy way this was being handled. That was a few weeks ago. Now it seems they are finally getting a third party involved. And by the statement from Kahnawake, it appears to be initiated by the Mohawks and not by the poker room. In my opinion, this poker room should have taken the bull by the horns as soon as the first complaint came in. I don't think they had a clue to what was going on. I met a representative from Chipleader two weeks ago in Barcelona. Chipleader is the affiliate/advertising program for Absolute Poker. He was not aware that Absolute Poker was in the rogue pit at Casinomeister, nor was he aware of the thunder and lightening going on in the fora. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Updated Cliff Notes On Absolute Poker Scandal (18th October)
Has this Steamroller's tourny score been discovered yet? Found a post on finnish forum today by the guy who finished 7 in that tourny describing steamrollers playing style very superuserish.
I don't remember other than cash games being discussed by this alias earlier. |
