If anyone has heard the Jim Rome interview with Johnny Miller, then they know its very apparent that Johnny doesnt think too highly of Phil as a person. Apparently most of the tour players dislike Phil also.

[/ QUOTE ]

I figured as much, he was berating Phil pretty hard even before 18. It makes it much more fun to watch, so I don't mind.

Can anyone imagine what the playoff would have been like if Oglivy bogeyed the 17th instead of making an amazing par? Mickleson, Montgomery, Furyk, and Oglivy. Mayhem.

[/ QUOTE ]

Given what we saw today, I can totally imagine it. I call in sick to work tomorrow and watch someone limp in with 79 to win.

As a Tiger fan, who has had to put up with a lot of Tiger-bashing from Mickelson fans, today is a very happy day.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm, 2nd place in the US Open or not making the cut?

That's a tough one...

I wanted to punch my TV when one guy said something to the effect of Tiger must be sick sitting at home knowing he would just have to shoot par to win. Oh really? Too bad he couldn't come near par in the first 2 rounds!

its been a few months but basically he said most players on tour think hes an arrogant jerk, and basically that he agreed. he also said Tiger surprisingly is liked by his peers.

I heard this too...they did a caddy's survey in Golf Digest..I believe he almost outpaced Rory Sabattini concerning character or level of arrogance. It doesn't really matter since...we can get an idea if u're almost at the level of Sabbatini..that's more than I need to know.

C'mon now. I'm no big fan of Phil, as most here are well aware, but he's pretty clearly a superior player to Tiger at the moment. Will he maintain? Who knows. Did he piss this one away? Yes, it was classic pre-major win Phil. But he's pretty clearly "of that calibur".
