[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Americans are very humble. [/ QUOTE ] More humble than you, that's for damn sure. [/ QUOTE ] This isn't getting the love it deserves. [/ QUOTE ] The thing that made it great was that it got like four serious responses. |

Not all conservatives are hillbilly morons, just as all liberals aren't (<insert random stereotype here> [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, they are. Some just don't know it. Being pro-gigantic unnecessary military is internally inconsistent with a belief in small government. |

Re: How do Americans view Europeans?
Beef with Europeans: They love to hate on Americans for only speaking English, and love to brag about speaking three or more languages.
But then you speak with one of these Hungarians (for example) and his English is so broken and remedial that you wonder what their standard is for "speaking" other languages. I took German in HS, but I wouldn't dream of claiming to speak German. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think there is quite a difference between Hungaria, and Western Europe countrys(for this example, I mean Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Ostria, Scandinavia. Even though I realise my first post was full of spelling errors, I do think that these countrys speak english and other foreign languages quite well. Also, the work ethic between these Western Europe countrys and other countrys is quite different I'dd say, its more like American standards. |

That's not true. http://bigpicture.typepad.com/commen...uropean_p.html Of course, that only matters if you find productivity rates to be of particular importance (they're not). [/ QUOTE ] That's three years old though. I also said increase in productivity, not overall productivity levels. |

Re: How do Americans view Europeans?
[ QUOTE ]
Being pro-gigantic unnecessary military is internally inconsistent with a belief in small government. [/ QUOTE ] I think it depends how you look at it. The gigantic military is probably helping the economy, which is generally what people want who want small government. This is because the R&D budget is effectively an enormous government subsidy of the electronics and manufacturing industries |

It isn't WW2 anymore. This is pretty outdated theory. [/ QUOTE ] I don't see how those two statements are connected. The military spending is still in place... Off the top of my head, it's something like 1/3rd of US Gov't spending, though I don't know what percentage of that goes to R&D or buying/maintaining hardware |

I grew up in military family, am pro-life, believe in smaller government, morally conservative, from the South. married to a rancher's daughter. How can I not be a Republican [/ QUOTE ] What astonishes me is that people like yourself were duped into voting for Bush. |
