[ QUOTE ] The Calvin sticker is a good one because it's just so [censored] anti the spirit of the comics that it means you either didn't get it, or were just like "tee hee Denance the Menance is peeing on something". Either way it's sort of unintentionally flaunting your ignorance, which is unsightly. [/ QUOTE ] Preach. Agree 100%. [/ QUOTE ] Yes! That's exactly it! Plus, you factor in that Watterson never ever licensed his work commercially for stuff like this, so these stickers are all bootleg garbage and these douchebags are ripping off the poor guy. He deserves better. |

I always enjoyed this bumper sticker, though: |

Re: The mark of the douchebag
I've heard a rumor that these were the only things Watterson did license or something. I'm going to assume that's untrue until proven otherwise.

Re: The mark of the douchebag
sort of a hijack: Like most of you, huge Calvin and Hobbes fan, own every original book published (would love the leather bound collection, but $150? f that). I met a girl who grew up in the town Watterson lives in. She made it sound like he was sort of miserable curmudgeon. He apparently has zero interest in being well known, so he hates any attention strangers give him and is just unfriendly in general. Though I can sympathize with someone just wanting their privacy, it still bummed me out a little bit.

KC,
Based on interviews and other stuff I've read from/about him that sounds about right. Nath, My favorite bumpersticker ever: "If Guns Are Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Accidentially Shoot Their Kids" |

Re: The mark of the douchebag
On some other internet forum there's a thread "The mark of the douchebag" with an entry "Online poker players" and a hundred of affirmative responses.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not a God believer at all and find the advertising ones particularly annoying as well, but I find the Darwin fish can be annoying for much of the same reason. I get it dude, you're progressive and wicked smart. So I at least got a chuckle out of the Jesus fish's rebuttal. I look forward to the Truth/Darwin fish arms race. |
