LOL It didn't even occur to me that putting GB-CHI on the night game means John Madden gets to do it!

"You see, the thing about Brett Favre is, I'm not gay, but if I had to go gay, it would be for Brett Favre; the great thing about the Green Bay Packers is Brett Favre; Brett Favre!!!"

[/ QUOTE ]

In Bill Simmons weekly article, he said that college students would die if they did the "drink every time Brett Favre's name is mentioned" drinking game.

My roommate and I, before going out for New Years Eve, decided that would be a heck of an idea, but with shots of newcastle.

6 beers into the first quarter, we changed the rules to making it...the announcers must say "BRETT FAVRE" and not just "Favre" or "brett". We lived through the game, which was awesome. Now, off to ring in the new years. Have a good, safe, end to 2006, all.

Josh - That's awesome!!

Why the hell did this idea not catch on WAY earlier?

I'm now actually hoping that Favre comes back for another season so that I can do this.

Also wanted to add that I think the announcers in the DEN/SF game were the very greatest, bestest ever.
I don't think I made that clear before.

The funnies part of the announcers of the Broncos game was when this guy was telling a story about Frank Gore and how he looks up to... And he just stops in mid-sentence for some reason, then other announcer comes in and says "finish your story" or something.. and he does like 30 seconds later

You will die. I mean, we had 6 beers in half an hour, the announcers had not yet started to talk about his possible retirement, etc.

It got to the point where we were just hoping the announcers would use the word "he" or "number 4" or anything but "FAVRE" on every play. And when they did the "Favre takes the snap, he looks left, Favre fires, and it's complete....good composure by Favre there" routines, we hated life. Then the replays came.

We were hoping to get a little happy, not begging for death in the first quarter. If we changed it to "dip your finger into a beer and lick it off" we coulda lasted the whole game...maybe

Not that it really matter, because if you are a broadcaster at a major network you should be better than that, but there were some odd circumstances in the Broncos/ 49ers game.

From what I could gather Dick Stockton who is the usual play-by-play guy with Johnson & Siragusa? was unable to travel into Denver. Also their normal truck was stuck and never got into town, so they had to use the regional fox sports crew. After dealing with some regional fox sports crews over the years I'm not real suprised that the crew they had was pretty poor. I would blame that OT field goal call on a bad spotter.

The play-by-play guy was Curt Menafee I believe. Who may have been a bit unprepared because he found out he was doing the game pretty late.
