Re: ***Official 2007-2008 MLB Offseason Thread***
You know what this reminds me of? It reminds me of when Alfonso Soriano was traded for Brad Wilkerson. SE was like "Huge win for the Rangers," and I said, "Have you lost your mind? Soriano has tools baby!" Then SE said, "Yeah, but even if Soriano is a little better than Wilkerson, the Rangers got Sledge too," and I said, "huh?"
I've created two slogans. 1. If the deal seems fair, take the guy with better tools. Neither the Soriano or Delmon Young trades seem fair to me, but you guys seem to think so, so it applies. 2. Don't trade a guy coming off of a bad year or for a guy coming off of a good year. The Rays are guilty of both to some degree here. Obviously these can't be hard and fast rules, but a huge % of the time, this will determing who gets the better end of a deal. |

WTF, the final trade was Garza/Barlett and Eduardo Morlan, not Rincon. Imo that makes the trade pretty clearly in TB's favor.

The correct answer is: It's the D-Rays, who cares? They'll never be good until they get out of the AL East.

What if Garza is the next Brazelton or Hamilton? [/ QUOTE ] what's with the hamilton comparison? garza doesn't have a drug problem, but given hamilton's studly MLB debut, maybe he should give it a try... |
