[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The first NFL TD thrown by Peyton Manning was an INT to Terrell Buckley. [/ QUOTE ] not trying to be a jerk... but alot of the stuff in here is actually good...this ones kinda worthless... he threw an INT before a TD...so what [/ QUOTE ] Its the internet. Your post is even more worthless. Go [censored] yourself. [/ QUOTE ] chillllll [/ QUOTE ] Obviously you are qualified to critique posts. After all you brought us these: Willow Bay Yaowsers Searching your name and -re: in sporting events is a collection of the worst threads this forum has ever seen. [/ QUOTE ] dude you gave a stat that wasn't amazing at all i explained why this was the case get over it [/ QUOTE ] show me the post where you explained that? I'm confused. You just said "not trying to be a jerk... but alot of the stuff in here is actually good...this ones kinda worthless... he threw an INT before a TD...so what"..... What exactly did that explain? |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If some statistician was really bored and could manage to get together something like 1000 facts that are near as good as some in here, he could make a hell of a lot of money. There are 10-15 things in here that have made this thread one of my favorites in a long time. [/ QUOTE ] I have absolutely no idea about the publishing industry, so please tell me how exactly one could go about putting a book(I'm guessing thats where you're saying the money would come from) together and getting it published? I think I could easily come up with 1000. [/ QUOTE ] I think you should start Icy Pots Publishing. But, yeah, I'm sure the market is there. Especially if the book was marketed right. Kind of like a Ripley's Believe It or Not of sports. [/ QUOTE ] I have no doubt I could write the book...but whats the next step after that? And yes, Icy Pots Publishing would rule the world of publishing. |

Re: random sports stats/facts that surprise you when you first hear th
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Ben Gordon is the 9th best 3pt shooter in NBA shooter in NBA history if you go by 3pt FG%, 2nd only among active players to Steve Nash. [/ QUOTE ] Jason Kapono doesn't qualify because he has too few scored/attempted or something? He's ahead of both. [/ QUOTE ] No, he does qualify and hes 10th. [/ QUOTE ] NBA.com Kapono Career 3 pt % = .459 (not counting 2 for 4 in playoffs) Gordon Career 3 pt % = .418 (not counting .390 mark in playoffs) Nash Career 3 pt % = .426 (not counting .419 in playoffs) so no matter which way you look at it (Reg Season only or add in playoffs) there is no way Nash leads in active 3 pt shooters unless there is a 3P Made requirement (Kapono only has 230). But since you said Kapono does qualify your info is not correct (unless NBA.com is wrong). [/ QUOTE ] One of us is getting wrong info from a site. You may be right for all I know. I'm getting my info here: http://www.basketballreference.com/l...tppct&lg=n |

[ QUOTE ]
On a side note: 1961-62 Wilt averaged 50.4 PPG and 26.4RPG, leading the league in both categories, and his team went 49-31, and he did not win the MVP. The MVP (Russell obv) that year did not make first team All NBA. The same occurred in 1960-61 (Wilt led in PPG, RPG, and FG%, was 1st team all NBA, and did not win MVP). Of course, it gets worse in 1962-63, when he leads the league in PPG, RPG, FG%, and doesn't make first team all NBA. [/ QUOTE ] Ted Williams hit .406 and led the league in HR in 1941 and didn't win the MVP. He won the triple crown the next year didn't win the MVP. |

[ QUOTE ]
In 2004 Barry Bonds was intentionally walked 120 times. The closest any Non-Barry Bonds (he has 2nd and 3rd place as well) is Willie Mac's 1969, which he had 45, or a 267% edge for Barry. [/ QUOTE ] That reminds me of one of my all-time favorites. In 1961, when he hit 61 HR, Roger Maris had 0 intentional walks. |

I'm going to guess he picked a guy off first with 2 outs in the ninth in a tied game and the O's won in the bottom half? [/ QUOTE ] Semi-brag: I was at the game when Tippy Martinez picked off three runners in one inning. |
