Wow, I'm appalled at the lack of respect some of the remaining players are getting.

Sure, I'm suprised to see Amnon Filippi leading at this point, only because his past tournament results do not reflect much(mixed games), but that's not to take anything away from the guy.

But for guys like Tim Phan and Kenny Tran to get no respect. These guys are successful, highly respected, top class players out of L.A.

Just because people don't play the big game does not mean they have no game. Or because you don't see them on T.V. every week does not make them any less of a player.

I'm personally rooting for Matusow/Phan/Tran/Greenstein/Singer to make the final.

For example 20 big bets in a $20/$40 game is only $800 and I would think anyone who's played $20/$40 (especially in LA) knows how fast that can go if you're running bad.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can go through that same $800 just as fast in a 5-10 NL game, if not 2-5.

Who doesn't want to see Gabe Kaplan win this event? Seriously.

I agree. But losing 50 Big BLINDS (@ 5/10=$500) or even 100 Big BLINDS (@ 2/5=$500) for No-Limit in a full game in a short period of time doesn't/shouldn't happen that often.

However, I contend that losing 12.5 Big BETS ($500) in a $20/$40 game happens at a much higher frequency because you play more draws, call, and showdown more often.

So, in context of this $50K HORSE tourney, with the average stack at around 705K, that's about 17 Big Bets. That's not much play at all if you run slightly bad.
