Mariano's 2007 stats are so sick.
First of all, he has a BABIP of .328 this year. His career BABIP (as with most pitchers) is .278. For a late career comparison, the last three years his BABIPs were .270, .254 and .285, respectively. His K/BB ratio is 10.60(!). His BB/9 is 0.9 (lol sick). His HR/9 is actually up a little bit at 0.54, but that is still awesome. 9.54 k/9. the dude is filthy

When Joba moves back to becoming a starter, does he have a 3rd pitch to use? I know his fastball and slider are rediculous, but I was wondering if anyone heard about him throwing a change-up or something. That would be so sick. And most starters have at least 3 pitches.

sooooo sick, just got back from the game. fans love joba already, the place was absolutely electric. i was a little disappointed he didn't pitch the ninth given what mariano did yesterday.
phenomenal game - i'm really beginning to come around on this team, at the beginning of the year i barely liked any of the guys - it's really nice to see these young guys doing well.

[/ QUOTE ] He throws a curve and a change. I've read that both are just OK and that both are good, depending on the source. Seems like he threw the curve more in college but has been throwing the change more in the minors. Mike Pagliarulo called his curve a plus pitch for what that's worth.
