So I played this hand in a .50/1 home game last night-

Effective stacks are $50 (that's the max at the begginning of the night).

Villain and I have played before- last time I took about $70 off of him when I flopped a set of queens and he flopped two pair.

I open UTG+1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for $4. Villain calls from the CO and everyone else folds.

Flop comes J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Pot is at $9.50.

I bet $8. He re-raises to $20. I push all in for $45.

He leans back and gets real aggravated. Starts going "I put in $20, the pot is xxx- hmmm. I don't know."

I had thought he might have flopped a set on me, but now I was sure he didn't. I just knew if I called the $20 I was sticking it in anyway on the turn, so might as well get AJ committed in case an Q or A comes off. So obviously I'm rooting for a call. I do my dead level best not to look strong (which probably made me look strong- lol, I am teh suck at live poker). I try to think of Caro and what tells of a strong hand are. I stare at the board.

Finally he sighs and open mucks 22. I sit there shocked and sheepishly rake in the pot. It is obvious to everyone at the table what just happened, and he immediately regrets his fold. I don't show, though, and I think his fold put ME on tilt for about 30 minutes (just because I realized how bad I almost got my money it).

Somebody said at the table- "you played your hand well" to me. I responded "I sure didn't if I had jacks."

[/ QUOTE ]Heh, well it wasn't a bluff.

Also, I thought it wouldn't be nice since I play with this guy a lot. Better to have a friendly atmosphere rather than embarrass them.

Over the weekend a few people were asking if the games were getting softer.

YES!!!

The Main Event of the WSOP is airing now and every year when it airs a ton of people decide they're going to be the next Moneymaker and start playing online. It's like being a fisherman in the streams of Alaska when the Salmon are going upstream - you don't have to even look for the fish, the fish jump right up into your hands.

[/ QUOTE ]There are some adjustments that need to be made for tournament play and the MTT forum is a good place to learn them. I came from the MTT world, though I hardly play them any more.

Also, LOL Donkaments.
