Fox in January. I suspect DB watched this while uttering a nice, hearty "Yarrrr." I don't think either he or I will give any more details.

Saw Last Man Standing on discovery channel. Really interesting show. Not sure what the overall arc of the series is, just saw this episode.

A bunch of guys go to some primitive tribe's village to train as wrestlers in their odd style. They are athletes, and some are even martial athletes. They get completely thrashed by these local boys and can't seem to get around it. They were hoping to represent the village in the inter-tribal yearly wrestling festival or whatever, but it's rough going since the natives trounce them so easily.

Meanwhile, they do dances, and some of them finally get accepted to rep the village. They undergo a minor but painful torture of getting their skin scraped away by what looks like small teeth in a piece of leather or coconut husk until they bleed. Then a mixture of salt and chiles is rubbed into their raw skin, and they have to not show particular fear or discomfort. All pass. The tribe's men and women both dance around, and there is full frontal nudity, and I mean full, on the women. Strangely perhaps, not on the men. (Well, not that strangely I guess.)

The show progresses toward the final wrestling match between the villages.

As with all reality shows, you have to wonder if anything was staged, but it's an unusually fun show and feels far more authentic than many. I really look forward to the next episode. Originally on BBC, it seems, so that's a very high mark of quality, to my experience. At least for the ones that make it across the pond.

Makes you cry? It's not supposed to do that! It's supposed to garner respect.
