[ QUOTE ] Everyone in the thread seemed to be against neutral ev gambling in general. If you have a million dollars, what's wrong to flip a coin for $10? If that is fun for you who cares? fish2plus2, adanthar can you explain why you disagree? [/ QUOTE ] the former isn't even gambling at that point I think, it's more of an entertainment expense. really, what I have problems with is just the blatant disregard for money. I'm not surprised that a 19 year old who went from 0 to > half a mil in under a year has that kind of disregard, but in some way, it's disrespectful of your family and the people around you to do this. there is something very off about wasting half your net worth, mid six figures, in one night flipping virtual coins when your parents are no doubt working for a living for much much less. I can't verbalize exactly why this is, and if you think I suck, fine. I'll just say that things like this are why online gambling is being banned. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with this 100%, this was an obscene waste of money. |

[ QUOTE ]
Every time you feel like flipping for 4k, find a small charity. Go to them, give them the 4k, ask to walk around with them for a day. I can guarantee you you'll derive a whole lot more happiness from this than the 5-second rush of flipping. [/ QUOTE ] but if he flips and wins and THEN goes to the charity he can give them $8k!! |

[ QUOTE ]
what kills me about all you supposed "math wizzes", it's the fact that everyone here keeps saying it's neutral ev to flip against 3 opponents. That's not neutral ev. He's only got a 25% shot at winning in the long-term. So yes this was gambling and way worse than craps which you're only a 3 or 4% dog in the long run. [/ QUOTE ] haha yeah i fell for it for about 5 seconds |

Adanthar and Diablo nailed it.
Besides those two points, the very fact that someone gains pleasure from the variance of gambling is sickening to me. |
