wtf is all this Leyland hate? He has 0 true sluggers in the line up, yet we go 7-1 in the playoffs. All of his moves have worked out. stfu

The board is filled with people who think they know more about baseball than people who have been involved with MLB for decades.

I had to stop watching after the 7th. Thank god I didn't have to witness the top of the 8th. Seriously would have considered thowing my boob tube out the window. I can't wait to hear about all the phantom injuries to Eric Chavez.

so you agree with Neifi Perez batting 2nd, or Zumaya pitching in a 5-0 game?

also I must have missed the reason why Guillen is playing 1B, is he hobbled?

You're being very results oriented.

Here are some of Leylands many, obvious mistakes.

1. He bats his best hitter, and best OBP guy 5th.
2. He bats players with horrible OBP 1-3 in front of his best slugger(maggs)
3. He has been known to play the worst hitter in baseball history (Neifi Perez), and even sometimes bat him at the top of the order
4. He used his best reliever (zumaya) in back to back nights, both situations that were very low leverage, and nearly meaningless. Zumaya proceeds to get hurt, and might be out for the playoffs.
5. This year his baserunners have 60 Stolen bases, and 40 Caught Stealing which, no matter how much you love small ball, is just downright terrible.

Oh, and my roommate and I just refer to Perez as AO. AO stands for Automatic Out.

We need a GVORM (Geek Value Over Replace Manager) and related family of stats that measure exactly how many wins a team would achieve if a Geek could dictate managerial decisions through mind control at key points in ball games.

"Yeah the Tigers won 95 games, but they essentially ran good and should have only won 93 -- furthermore, according to my GVORM, I could have ran bad and won 98."

But the Tigers won blah blah blah etc etc.

It never ceases to amaze me how the same people who can intelligently think about poker and stop themselves from being results-oriented there are the ones that believe in ridiculous cliches in baseball.
