This is something I've wondered about. What is the highest % that a record holder has over the person (or team, whatever) that holds 2nd place in that particular category?

[/ QUOTE ]
In 2004 Barry Bonds was intentionally walked 120 times. The closest any Non-Barry Bonds (he has 2nd and 3rd place as well) is Willie Mac's 1969, which he had 45, or a 267% edge for Barry.

[ QUOTE ]
Only one player has ever had 20 2B, 20 3B, 20 HR, and 20 SB in one season: Willie Mays, 1957

Both Jimmy Rollins and Curtis Granderson have a good chance to join him (Rollins needs 5 3B and Granderson needs 2 HR, 4 3B, and 6 SB.)

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm more surprised that two players are threatening to join the club than that there is only one player to begin with. Cool stat all around.

167% edge. An "edge" doesn't count the part that's the same.

I was surprised by this one for about 10 seconds due to the way it was presented in a Braves games over the weekend:

"Teams play .690 baseball in games in which they get a quality start." (They prefaced it with the 4.50 ERA stat about quality starts.)

Mitch Richmond was one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Richmond is one of only seven players in NBA history to average at least 21 points per game for his first 10 seasons – along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Shaquille O'Neal and Allen Iverson. [citation needed] He was also one of the most accurate long range shooters in league history, making 1,326 3-pointers in his career, which places him 9th all-time in career three-point field goals made. Michael Jordan said Richmond was one of the hardest players to defend in the NBA. "There really are no weaknesses in his game," said Jordan. "He can drive to the hoop as well as take the outside jump shot. He reminds me a lot of me in his overall offensive display."

He also was one of the best video game 3 point shooters of all time. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Mitch.

I'm going to guess he picked a guy off first with 2 outs in the ninth in a tied game and the O's won in the bottom half?
