Why all this talk about the garbage Rangers? The Islanders have signed Jon Sim! Watch out, Atlantic Division!

Wow, interesting day.

Ducks are able to go from much worse to slightly worse by signing Schnieder to cover for the impending Niedermayer retirement. If Selanne resigns and the Ducks can pick up a winger (Kariya/Selanne reunion or Smyth?) they should be in good shape.

The Rangers are going to be pretty damn good. Nice signings. I feel sorry for Buffalo fans. It's going to be hard going from a team that was so awesome last year, to a team missing their 2 best players. Hopefully they can grab someone to lessen the blow. They should still be a playoff team though.

Can anyone give me a scouting report on Sydor and Hamrlik?

[/ QUOTE ]

sydor's finished. stay away.

hamrlik can do everything pretty well but doesn't do one thing well. he's a bit slow, but he's also big - doesn't hit much, but can shoot and pass fairly well.

Goodbye Joni Pitkaenan, and good riddance

Maybe Joni will develop in the coming years, but he was brutal last season. He regressed pretty badly from the season before. He was a big part of the reason the Flyers couldn't keep the puck out of the net.

Still, he has plenty of raw potential for another team to possibly tap into. It just wasn't happening in Philadelphia.

The Ducks could be crazy good if he and Selanne return. They'll be right next to the cap though, but they'd essentially be the Stanley Cup championship team PLUS Mathieu Schnieder. That's sick.

thought Miller was locked up?

Vanek will probably not want to lock himself up. He is going to be due major monies in either three or four years.
