What they are essentially saying by continuing to talk about soccer is: "Well, we're kind of bored of talking about this poker game even though it's heads-up for the biggest online prize-pool in history. So since we're bored with poker right now we're going to talk about soccer instead."

[/ QUOTE ]
Is that so far from the truth?

Tournament poker and especially heads-up poker and even more so online poker without seeing holecards IS boring. Whether it's a $5 SnG or the biggest tourney ever.

I don't mind them chatting about random stuff at all. Dave and Bart did it all the time on LATB as well.

I remember listening to the one in 2005 I think with Greenstein and Raymer commentating and it was truly an awesome poker discussion and they did continue to occasionally chat about the play at the tables too.

Whether it's the truth about how bored they are or not I think they are getting paid to mostly talk about poker.

Obviously it's okay to stray from the topic on occasion during the course of a long broadcast and to get a little silly. But if they're really having a long and drawn-out discussion about soccer then I just don't think that's the correct way to go about such a broadcast.

ape - yeah, I get it. As I said though, I listened to a similar broadcast in 2005 but since it had Greenstein and Raymer on it was pretty awesome.
I understand the constraints of trying to do a live broadcast of a heads-up match like that. They worked around the same constraints before without talking so much about soccer.

Anyway, I really can't comment TOO much on their broadcast since I can't even hear it.

You won't get much poker discussion with the host of this show, he's too much about exposition and interviewing rather than discussion. Football is as good as you'll get.

There was a thread about it when he first joined PS. I think he controls the boomswitch at PS now.

There has been excellent poker discussion with Bart and Barry/Fossilman/etc. this year. But it was more at the Non-Holdem events IMO.

I think Dave Tuchman always tended to go over other topics on LATB more than Bart. I guess that's just his style.

I really like it when the commentary is not über-serious. It is a huge tourney and it is huge money, but it is still a donkament probably decided on some sort of coinflip.
