btw another non-secret which should surprise absolutely no one is that the first several of those press releases were issued by Scott Tom. again, duh. [/ QUOTE ] So the man who at the very least covered up cheating scandals within Absolute Poker is only going to be temporarily removed from his position? |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
I'm sorry Nat. I respect you a bunch and you have done a wonderful job with this. These statements from AP are more of a reason not to go there.
There is no excuse for a company of this size to make mistakes like this. They are in damage control mode big time. You have done all you can do. This company must go away inorder for online poker to survive. There is nothing to learn in Costa Rica, unless you visit 'Stars and see how it SHOULD be done. Don't waste your time dude. |

[/ QUOTE ] Doesn't this fact by itself show ALL of AP's statements to be a lie? If Scott Tom is not involved with the company, why is he issuing PRs? If it's a rogue consultant, and everyone else is innocent, why is another top exec covering for him? And how can they maintain that they "immediately" asked for an audit? I find your (and/or Nat's) position on this genuinely confusing. You seem to be saying we should give the "new guys" a chance, and that their latest statements are pretty fair/accurate, and yet everything seems to indicate that they're still lying through their teeth. Sorry if I'm mischaracterizing your position, but I really don't get it. "Rogue consultant" and "conspiracy and coverup at the top" can't both be true imo. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
I can't defend all of AP's actions throughout this situation for a lot of reasons. I am not telling anyone to give them another chance.
However, I do think there is a significant possibility that one day they will run a completely secure site (from all angles) that will offer a 100% fair gaming experience. There is ALSO a significant possibility that they will never truly clean house and no one can really deny that as a possibility. That's all yet-to-be-determined and obviously lots of people here will never play there again no matter what and it's their right to do that. In my mind, the jury is still out on the AP that we will see going forward. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
Hi Ada,
I am a long time "listener", first time "caller". You and others seem to have assumed the role of a conduit of information between AP and this forum, so much so that it prompted me to create an account because I thought I might add that some may consider you, and others, disclosing "inside information". Given the you and others have obviously been made privy to information that is not accessible by the general public, why not disclose everything you know? What is prompting you to reveal it in pieces? |

I wonder why it took players of a poker FORUM, as oopsed to the "regulators" of the industy/site to pick up on the fact that there was blatent and extreamly obvious cheating going on? Isn't the kawannee gaming commission supposed to be monitering this kind of thing? This is a really big hit for the industry in my opinoin. If the people who are supposed to be monitering the industry (poker site/gaming commission) and preventing cheating are not doing their job, whos to say this is not going on elsewhere? And by people who are not as blatent and dumb as to be caught in the mannor that these people were? [/ QUOTE ] In Nevada casinos pay huge sums to the state in the form of taxes, so the state can afford to have a lot of investigators. The KGC gets only $10,000 per year from each gambling opearator, so they can't really monitor at each poker site thousands of players, day in and day out, for possible signs of cheating. As a practical matter, they must rely on reports of cheating, and they have a form for that mentioned on their website. They would have to charge hundreds of thousands of dollars per year for each gambling outfit to be able to conduct the kind of investigations you want them to conduct. And then they would have zero permittees, since none would pay that much for the right to run their servers out of that indian reservation. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
The funny part about all of this is that these guys should ALL have plenty of money. Such stupidity if they are actually involved in the cheating.
