[/ QUOTE ] I doubt it. the Pats would still be undefeated, and the Pats haven't come close to clinching anything yet (ie there are playoff implications, even for the Eagles, they're not done yet)

Adam Vinatieri is 16/20 this year on fg’s, 27/29 on xp’s Stephen Gostkowski is 11/12, 46/46 In kickoffs, Gostkowski has touchbacks in 8/38 (21%) attempts Vinatieri is 8/54 (15%) Vinatieri 2007 cap charge: $2.07m Gostkowski 2007 cap charge: $472k Vinatieri is signed through 2010, Gostkowski 2009 I was against this move at the time, but I was wrong. we got younger, much cheaper, and better by replacing Vinatieri with Gostkowski.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think you can take away what he's done. he'll be 35 next month, which I would guess is longer than most kickers play (?). so it's kind of a question of, do you penalize him for playing through a decline phase? this is assuming that Vinatieri is in a genuine old age decline phase, and his problems with strength/accuracy aren't being caused by some other injuries. but he wasn't great in 2005 or 2006 either, so I think it's likely he's just gotten old.
