[ QUOTE ]
The Brewers are going to have to face Hudson, Smoltz, Maddux, Young, and possibly Peavy. They also just faced Gorzelanny. They are so lucky they miss all the aces.

[/ QUOTE ]

Against the Braves they missed Chuck James. They face Hudson/Smoltz but also Reyes/Bennett. Neutral luck here.

Against the Padres, they figure to actually MISS Peavy unless they start him with short rest somewhere. There isn't much variance against a rotation like theres.

[ QUOTE ]
And obviously it's good for the Brewers that they missed Oswalt, BUT he is 0-2 with a 5.49 ERA against them this year.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is awful.

[ QUOTE ]
I don't know all the pitching probables for the Cubs' opponents next week, but they do face Gorzellany. Thing is, against Harang yesterday and Gorzellany later, they have Zambrano going.

[/ QUOTE ]

The quality of our pitcher is meaningless. He goes every 5th day. This is like saying the Yankees are lucky because all their players are good. Unless you're saying we're lucky to have our ace against theirs, but the difference between Z and Lilly or Hill is negligible.

[ QUOTE ]
Basically, there's pretty much no way that the Cubs final two weeks are easier than the Brewers. Doesn't matter, though. Gotta win no matter what players are out there. Should be a fun race to the finish, especially since these two teams aren't there often.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say they were. The Cubs had a harder schedule earlier, they have an easier schedule now. I was pointing out are recent bad luck in how the rotation fell with our opponents, especially with a team like Cincinatti with 2 very good pitchers, or Houston with 1, and a bunch of scrubs. Conversely, what pitchers you face against a team like the Padres, or Cubs, isn't all that important.

Overall I'd say the luck of the Cubs has been excellent this year, just whining about recent events

I found out today I'll be in Chicago area same weekend as the Cubs will be at home in first round, IF THEY CAN JUST GET IN. Of course, that means we're screwed.
