LOL Cubs fans, from cubs.com: Who should get the most starts at catcher down the stretch? Jason Kendall 50341 votes (64%) Geovany Soto 28023 votes (36%) I voted Kendall for hilarity's sake. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe if Kendall practiced as much as he hit vote+refresh, we'd have a good catcher. Why did the Cubs announcer (not Brenley) say the Reds are protesting last night's game??? |

If the umps had a problem with it, then they should have just not allowed the double switch, so the pitcher would still be in the 9 hole and the new position player would be in the old position players's spot. |

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Gonna be an interesting last couple of weeks. Cubs have the easier schedule + 2 days off.
CHI: 1 vs CIN, 3 vs PIT, 3 @ FLA, 3 @ CIN MIL: 1 @ HOU, 4 @ ATL, 3 vs STL, 4 vs SD After 5 straight horrible outings, Z had two strong showings until tonight. Our staff isn't good enough for him to mail it in with 10 games left. Good news is that we don't play anybody who gives a [censored] about this season while the Brewers still have 4 with Atlanta and SD each. If we can pull out 7 wins we'll force the Brewers to go 8-4 to tie, 9-3 to win. Don't think they can do that. |

I'm hoping for the Cards to roll over
time to give Pujols a few days off and time to pitch some AAA guys nevermind they should just start Wells, Maroth, and Reyes v the Brewers |

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Our schedule was against worst teams, but we keep hitting the aces of the staffs, while the Brewers are missing them. Oswault was scheduled to start against them tomorrow but his wife is having a baby. Come on, Roy, you can have kids until you're 60, you only have so much baseball left in you, gogogo!

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
The Brewers are going to have to face Hudson, Smoltz, Maddux, Young, and possibly Peavy. They also just faced Gorzelanny. They are so lucky they miss all the aces.
And obviously it's good for the Brewers that they missed Oswalt, BUT he is 0-2 with a 5.49 ERA against them this year. I don't know all the pitching probables for the Cubs' opponents next week, but they do face Gorzellany. Thing is, against Harang yesterday and Gorzellany later, they have Zambrano going. Basically, there's pretty much no way that the Cubs final two weeks are easier than the Brewers. Doesn't matter, though. Gotta win no matter what players are out there. Should be a fun race to the finish, especially since these two teams aren't there often. |

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
the cubs have been in the race 3 of the last 5 years. Let's not compare them to the Brewers in that regard.

[/ QUOTE ] From what I can gather, here is what the Cubs can expect to see, with this years stats vs. CHI in parentheses: 9/19: Tom Shearn (no starts) 9/20: off 9/21: Paul Maholm (2-0, 5.02/1.12) 9/22: John Van Benschoten (0-1, 16.88/3.75) 9/23: Tom Gorzellany (1-1, 1.29/1.14) 9/24: off 9/25: Dontrelle Willis (1-0, 5.14/1.14) 9/26: Sergio Mitre (0-0, 0.00/1.00) 9/27: Scott Olsen (no starts, career 3-0, 3.94/1.13) 9/28: Bronson Arroyo (0-2, 3.38/1.39) 9/29: Aaron Harang (3-1, 4.85/1.31) 9/30: Tom Shearn (no starts) We've hit most of these guys pretty well except for Gorzellany, Olsen, and Mitre (who owned us for 4 innings but was pulled due to injury). Some of these are of course subject to change. I should also add that Arroyo has solid career numbers against us while Harang has horrible numbers but is somehow 8-2 career. |
