Would put you on a jack with a heart redraw, so probably would've dumped it.

Took a shot at NL100 today, played around 400 hands of standard 20/16 poker. Not much to report other than that I focus much better two tabling and that party NL100 and NL200 can be very very soft.

Edit: Oh yeah, down half a buyin total, no big deal. I think I played OK

Make that - 2 buyins. A 78/0/0 just won 4 pots in a row off of me. I quit NL100

NL100 is incredibly soft, I wouldn't let losing 2 buyins put you off.

I agree, but I seem to time my downswings exactly when I move up. I'm down over 6 buyins over 2k hands for my shots at NL100, and some more on a non-PT site. Oh well, I'll just grind back the 200 and then try again. I am determined to make it before my 10th shot, these guys suck.

Ben,

Thanks for the color changing post for PT...good stuff.

I like April thus far....still running at 13.50 PTBB/100

I find NL100 to be higher variance, purely because you start to run into people 3betting light and making more plays than you do below that level, it's just the nature of the beast it'll be more swingy.

If you're rolled for NL100 I'd stay there for at least a 5 buyin shot, or whatever number you're comfortable with. If that number however is 2, then obviously move back.

Check your PT stats as well to make sure you're not changing your game as it's 'DOUBLE NORMAL STAKES ZOMG!' and that your bet sizes aren't out of whack.

If it's purely cold decks and a normal downswing there isn't much you can other than keep taking regular shots until you crack it.

I generally like taking 3 buyin shots but going for 5 seems better as I would have to switch in and out of NL100 mode a lot less (getting used to the bet sizing, the way unknowns play etc etc) It really shouldn't be all that different though.
