Ooh! Ooh! Here\'s One!!
Full Metal Jacket:
The absolutely inane scene where Matthew Modine is introduced to his platoon, and he gets in that agonizingly awful verbal exchange with Animal Mother: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animal Mother: You a photographer? Private Joker: I'm a combat correspondent. Animal Mother: Well you seen much combat? Private Joker: I've seen a little on TV. Animal Mother: You're a real comedian. Private Joker: Well they call me the Joker. Animal Mother: Well I got a joke for you. I'm gonna tear you a new [censored]. Private Joker: Well pilgrim, only after you eat the peanuts out of my [censored]. Animal Mother: You talk the talk. Do you walk the walk? It...hurts. I am not a huge fan of the film, but understand a lot of people have it on their Top 100 lists and whatnot, so there you have it. |

That scene and the one where they're being filmed don't really fit with the rest of the movie.

You're expecting William Shakespeare in this scene? Not one of my favorite flicks, but this scene was brilliant. The look on Rafterman's face during the verbal exchange between PJ and AM was priceless...

Re: Ooh! Ooh! Here\'s One!!
The accent Matthew Modine is using, the cliched line...really terrible.
Yes, he's having an exchange with a moron, and yes, he's putting on a face, but the scene sucks hard. I like the wat the other grunts are all going "Ooooh," and "Ahahhaaaahh" after each line, as if someone had ripped the other guy's nuts off. Just plain bad. |

Re: Bad Moments in Great Films
i know a lot of people are torn on The Departed (2006) but i really liked it.... except when Martin Sheen's character is thrown off the roof - like wtf how can u not get backup when you are the POLICE CAPTAIN. you just ask the dudes for a light then they throw u off the roof - stupid. Still love the movie

Re: Bad Moments in Great Films
That's not even the stupidest part of The Departed(DiCaprio's actions at the police station after he figures out Damon is the mole), but I don't think plot holes really qualify.

Re: Bad Moments in Great Films
Am I the only one who doesn't consider "The Departed" a great film?
It was reasonably good, but got more attention than it should've because of who was involved. The plot had more holes in it than any decent film in recent memory. The acting was respectable, but not spectacular. |

Re: Bad Moments in Great Films
The acting was spectacular, the movie had a [censored] of style, the funny parts were funny, the violent parts were brutal, it was an excellent theater experience. It isn't until you start thinking about the plot and everyone's motivations that the movie falls apart.
DiCaprio and Damon sold the hell out of their roles, you can't knock the acting. Most of the plot holes were brought over from the original. My issue with giving him the Oscar was that The Departed was a pretty faithful remake of a not very old movie. |

The Beach
Scene where Dicaprio is wandering around the jungle and it turns into a video game. |

It was the Academy's last chance to take a Mulligan for [censored] him over back in the 70's.
