Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?
A freaking golden retriever outrunning 11 freakishly fast humans are you fatsos kidding me, there's no way. Maybe, and I say, maybe, against a small high school team could this dog do this. A greyhound maybe. But not golden retriever. The dog isn't as much faster than a human being as some of you think, if at all. And I don't care about how you personally find it challenging to catch your chihuahua in the back yard. You're old and fat and these football players are young, in shape, and highly trained. This question is as dumb as it gets here and I can't believe I even wasted 10 minutes reading posts and answering this.

[ QUOTE ] Why can't the dog call for a fair catch? [/ QUOTE ] Cause its a [censored] dog! It might be trained to run for the other side of the field but it is too stupid to understand the rules of the game, and also too stupid to understand the tactics that 11 humans acting in concert could use against it. [/ QUOTE ] Yes and the average intellegence of an NFL football player is problably lower than a golden retriver. Now if the dog broke away the players would pull out their GATS and 9's and just shoot the dog. |

My point is I have caught dogs that didn't want to be caught. I have never attempted to catch a cheetah. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but were you trying to tackle that dog in an open field that was 50 yards wide and 100 yards long? |

Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?
this thread is hilarious. there's a lot more factors to consider in answering this question than i originally thought. OOT is terrible w/ women but apparently great at analyzing ridiculous hypothetical situations.

Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?
Looks like we need a computer simulation. The only necessary thing to know is what % of the time a human would tackle the dog if it were within ~3 feet.

Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?
This is actually an easy decision, with 11 players on the field you can easily herd the dog; plus you only have to essentially fall on the dog making the inability to tackle it not be a problem.
The catch would be that if the dog broke the line of coverage I think it would be hard for a human to catch up. |

Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?
Dude, all of you talking about kicking it 20 yards forward and as high as you can are morons. And so are people that are saying the dog has a chance at that point.
To address idiot answers like "line up on the goal line you only have to stop a touchdown" which wouldn't work anyway or "kick it really high and surround him" which makes the question completely boring, I suggest a modified hypothetical in which it's assumed that it's just a normal freaking kick. And no, NFL players can not get to the goal line on a kickoff even unblocked. How long do you think it takes to cover 70 yards in full pads? How long do you think a kick off can stay in the air? It's semi close with the running start but there's still no way they get there. |
